Animation School, a partner of the 5th International Children’s Cultural Forum, is Russia’s first online animation school. Its graduates work at virtually every animation studio in the country.
At the Forum, the school’s team and industry professionals held the session «How to Break into Animation: An Honest Conversation About the Profession». Participants learned how to begin their training, put together their first portfolio and find a job at a studio.
The speakers were:
Andrey Trenin — founder of Animation School;
Mirbek Imarov — the school’s Development Director;
Matvey Lashko — director, creative producer and co-founder of SKAZ studio;
Anastasia Tarakanova — Art Director at PETRICK studio, concept artist and character artist;
Olga Rashchinskaya — Senior Brand Manager at Riki Group.
The experts shared their experiences and spoke about their first steps, challenges and mistakes. The young participants also had an opportunity to speak directly with professionals already working in the industry. The session demonstrated that the most important things in animation are curiosity, a willingness to learn and the courage to take the first step.
At the special interactive stand «Animation School: Complete Your Frame», participants could continue the story as they imagined it. There were no right answers or restrictions, because animation begins with an idea.
