The All-Russian Decorative Art Museum is a federal museum in Moscow dedicated to preserving and studying folk, decorative and applied art. Its collection comprises more than 260,000 works, ranging from traditional handicrafts to contemporary design projects.
On 21 August, participants in the 5th International Children’s Cultural Forum visited the museum and explored the following exhibitions:
«Vera Mukhina: Dialogues, Perspectives»
The exhibition explores the work of Vera Mukhina, creator of the iconic sculpture «Worker and Collective Farm Woman». Participants discovered how she experimented with glass, architecture and decorative sculpture.
«The Marvellous Wonder of Gorodets»
The exhibition traces the history of Gorodets painting, one of Russia’s most recognisable traditional crafts. Visitors explored its characteristic images of horses, birds and flowers and learned how the craft continues to evolve today.
«A Journey Home: Traditional Art of Russia»
The exhibition features examples of folk art from different regions of Russia. Traditional costumes, wood carvings, toys and other objects preserving the history of generations can be seen throughout the museum’s galleries.
During the guided tours, participants immersed themselves in the history of Russian art and discovered how folk motifs and traditions take on new forms in the work of contemporary artists.
